Our Waterfront – sea-legs welcome

exploring something new is like
finding a part of yourself

Calling all boaters! Cobourg has a long-standing tradition as a holiday destination for boaters. As such, the marina, located just west of the beach, is top-notch and a going concern for yacht club social events, races and sailing lessons. Spectators welcome! Americans in the late 1800s, many from Rochester right across Lake Ontario, built summer estate homes in the growing town and sailed over for summer vacations. It was quite the social hub. Beautiful Cobourg earned the name “the gem of Lake Ontario” for its air quality and as a place for restoring good health. Today, there are fishing charters available and sailboats and fine crafts are moored at the marina throughout the season. Boaters have an easy walk to the town’s shops and services downtown. Seafaring works up a hearty appetite, of course, and Cobourg’s big-hearted hospitality is a welcome respite.
